Espresso Press is a publishing platform and cultural home for black women writers.

If you’ve been around Coffee With Ella for a while, you might have noticed that things are changing around here. What began as a coaching practice has gradually grown into a creative ecosystem built around helping black women imagine, build and sustain creatively rich lives.

Espresso Press is the next chapter of that journey.

Through publications, programmes and partnerships, we’re publishing new voices, creating opportunities and bringing writers together in community. We believe black women writers deserve spaces where our work is celebrated, our voices are championed and our creative lives are recognised while they’re still unfolding.

For us, that’s about more than visibility. It’s about who gets remembered, who gets celebrated and who gets to shape the cultural record.

Too often, heritage is something that’s assembled after the fact: once the book has won an award, the writer has become established or history has decided whose stories are worth remembering.

We want to do something different.

We’re creating a living archive of black women writers in real time—not just of the finished books but of the first drafts, conversations, communities and creative lives that make them possible. Rather than waiting for someone else to decide what matters, we’re choosing to recognise, celebrate and preserve these stories as they’re being lived.
